Blind, Wheelchair-Bound Student Doesn't Fail to Inspire Patrick Henry Hughes Plays the Piano, Is a Member of the Band -- And Doesn't See His Physical Shortcomings By ERIN HAYES ( for ABC News ) Nov. 10, 2006 When I met 18-year old Patrick Henry Hughes, I knew he was musically talented. I had been told so, had read that he was very able for someone his age and who had been blind and crippled since birth. Patrick's eyes are not functional; his body and legs are stunted. He is in a wheelchair. When we first shook hands, his fingers seemed entirely too thick to be nimble. So when he offered to play the piano for me and his father rolled his wheelchair up to the baby grand, I confess that I thought to myself, "Well, this will be sweet. He has overcome so much. How nice that he can play piano." The original plan, I thought, would be this: We were going to talk a bit as he played. That was the plan. Hughes would explain how he managed to navigate the keyboard and ...

Wise words

A construction supervisor from the 16th floor of a building was calling a worker on the ground floor. But because of the noise, the worker did not hear his Call. To draw the attention of the worker, the supervisor threw a N200 note in front of the worker. The worker picked up the note, kept it in his pocket and continued to work. Again to draw the attention of d worker, the supervisor threw N1000 note and the worker this time quickly picked it and kept it in his pocket. I'm sharing this because it is thought-provoking. I wish you could forward it to every youth known to you, so they can have a piece of it. And let the sleeping giants rise. "My Dear Nigerian Youths", by Prof. Isa. I am very angry and that is why I am addressing you. You are the source of my anger and I want to vent my spleen- maybe not at you directly- but at the arrogance of your ignorance. You sit in front of a computer and rant all day through social media but with every click, you make money - not for yourself - but for Mark Zuckerberg (Facebook). With every megabyte of data you spend complaining and maligning, you make stupendous bucks for Etisalat, Glo and Airtel. Over the next two years, the number of Nigerian millionaires will jump by 47% but most likely you will not be among because you are too busy whining and complaining. And yet about 60% of Nigeria’s 170m population are below 35 years. Oh, what a waste! By the way, Mark Zuckerberg was 19 when he starte...
